Why to proactively invest in Collective Emotional Intelligence & Resilience capacity building

In my last blog post i have shared how my entrepreneurship focus have evolved since i visited an event organized by Stichting DOEN in Amsterdam, on Climate Change.
In brief i have developed a new methodology for assessment, research, solution design and production of scalable applications, capacity building programs, consultancy products and tools for entrepreneurs and innovators. This new methodology utilize nature principles, new mathematics, encoding and algorithms design method.
The first smart tools and A.I. engine designed along 2018 had focus on human capital, leadership, strategic management and innovation. After the inspiring experiences on sustainability pressing issues along 2016-2019, i have set my intention to utilize this methodology for solving global pressing issues. As first step I have designed and planned the deployment of new smart solutions solutions for circular economy, climate change, equality, inclusion, new economy models and SDG (sustainable development goals).
Since the 80’s i am aware of climate change scientific information. My father was professor, later dean at an university in Peru, and one of the pioneers on environmental care faculty. He handed out papers to me for reading, he was trying to inspire in me some reflection of a pressing issue with social and economic impact. I was a teenager at that time with many other concerns in mind. Even i loved nature, i was not ready to dive into all the scientific and governance documentation. But gave to it enough attention to remember about it 20+ years later when global awareness campaigns and activists for climate change will hit the internet.
In the region we lived close to the Andean Mountains range over 6.000 mts, an abundant in water sources, lagoons, lakes, glaciers region, an increasing concern. Today water is a new commodity, private property or a scarcity topic. Scientist have registered recently a drastic reduction of almost 30 percent in the area covered by glaciers between 2000 and 2016.
2019, is about 30+ years from the first time i heard about climate change and water scarcity.
The IPCC The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change www.ipcc.ch The provides regular assessments of the scientific basis of climate change, its impacts and future risks, and options for adaptation and mitigation.
Created in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization(WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the objective of the IPCC is to provide governments at all levels with scientific information that they can use to develop climate policies. IPCC reports are also a key input into international climate change negotiations
CLIMATE CHANGE AFFECTS YOUR METAL HEALTH
Symptoms of PTSD (post traumatic stress syndrome) can also appear when individuals or communities face survival pressing events to be experienced in close future. Emotionally there is no such of a difference between now and future, if we honestly feel /project ourselves into a future scenario.
When humans watch a movie or read a book, or read the news, despite the reality of the event, if imaginary or related to real facts, an emotional response take place. As well if we listen to music or experience arts, from plastic arts to performance, despite its abstract and non tangible nature, we feel and experience with them, eventually a transformation in our inner world.
By facing the idea and facts, future scenarios of climate change, is is obvious that because of the tangibility of them, the systemic impact created by its outcome, individuals, leaders and community will experience a shock and normally avoid to face the information, acknowledge their emotional response to it, and the implications as for the changes in their life, plans, business, quality of life, stability and comfort.
Along last 10 years i have shared spaces with entrepreneurs, leaders and researchers, educators and government representatives on climate change. Questions like: How to encourage actionable leadership ? How to enable an actionable response to the information ? How to speed up the deployment and market engagement for the integration (shift) of new technologies that are climate positive, and so on.
From all of these questions, probably only 10% did focus on the human side of the equation. Most of them did focus on the technology, governance, leadership strategies and economic side of the challenge.
COLLECTIVE EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE & RESILIENCE CAPACITY BUILDING
As for the multidisciplinary power of the Matrix-Q Methodology, i belief i have the possibility to answer and provide solutions for many of those questions. I started in 2015 the design of a climate proof engine, clean energy, and on new materials based on nano technology, that are still on the Matrix R&D lab and i think it will take still long for us to complete them. This fact makes me feel uncomfortable, and ask my self what i can do today that would be of help.
Matrix-Q Methodology applied to human enhancement or human (personal) leadership, is probably the most important contribution my ecosystem can make today to the climate collaboration network.
We have launched one program that can help humans deal with climate change information from the point of view of emotional intelligence.
But emotional intelligence is not only to be applied for climate change, there are several other global pressing issues for which collective emotional intelligence and resilience capacity building are necessary (for example Technology 4.0, Equality, Inclusion, Circularity, SDGs) and we plan to approach one by one each of them. We start with climate change.
The Mindset Harmonizers Program
It offers full day workshop and meet-ups along which information, tools, and emotional intelligence training designed for (personal) leadership, entrepreneurship and governance will be provided.
Our goal is to help the attendees to :

- Unleash potential and discover new pathways for trapped value release and growth.
- Enable engagement.
- Support individual’s mental health and quality of living while dealing with emotional-intelligence challenges

Our knowledge is that collective emotional intelligence enables resilience and proactive engagement addressing pressing global issues.
Along the meet-ups and workshop we will explore the human mindset from three perspectives: Think, Feel & Act. and learn how to use data-driven tools that will help us advance our leadership skills and capacity to enhance collective emotional intelligence and resilience.
FOCUS 2019: CLIMATE [ CASE STUDY ]
- Learn about 9 types of perceived structural (social and economic) disruption, their emotional and subconscious impact and influence on human behavior.
- Discuss positive impact stories, of organizations, leaders and civilizations, and the emotional intelligence approach and mindset they did choose to sustain their success.
- Learn about the 9 mindset types and how to utilize the Matrix-Q Mindset Harmonizers & Actionable Communication Methodology (Introductory version will be shared along the meet ups. The complete tools in the hybrid workshop).
Since 2000 i have been helping entrepreneurs and leaders to deal with pressing and challenging circumstances, preventing or diminishing burnout symptoms and designing an entrepreneurial life in which work, private life and family are in balance.
For this work, leaders must become aware of the role emotions and ideas, perceptions play in their daily life and rhythm of work, time management, priorities and business process design.
Emotional intelligence is not to be learned in books. In 2000 my team did offer to an important mining company a training on emotional intelligence to prevent burnout. Our customers argued that their CxOs did receive already emotional intelligence training. I asked immediately what did they do?. Hoping to hear an answer that indicates their organization was advanced in emotions-based-process management. But i did confirm again that HHRR did themselves not understand what emotional intelligence is, and how can they integrate the knowledge of emotional intelligence in a technical way as resource for human capital and leadership.
Information about emotional intelligence, to read papers and popular books only nurtures our intellect, does not make us more emotionally intelligent.
Since 1993 i have provided emotional intelligence training for leaders and today i am glad to say that we know how and what to do to reboot and boost leaders emotional intelligence through capacity building programs.
Here two examples:
1. Prime-Do is a combination of self-awareness practices with practical skills on martial arts, meditation, yoga and breathing. For which emotional intelligence is extremely valuable.
2. Emotional Intelligence Training; through self-expression, via exploration with performing arts, story telling and language.
3. We are developing a new app, e-test: ” Climate Change coping capacity”
